The Triglitz watermill is a gem in the idyllic Prignitz region. The watermill was built from 1702-1704 under the feudal lord and manor owner Warnstedt. The first leaseholder from 1706 to 1740 was the master miller Christian Knaak from Weissen Gottschow. In 1778, the ‘Altenteil’ was added as another residential building.

In 1888, the merchant Carl Ganzlin from Grabow acquired the watermill. Significant alterations to the mill buildings are likely to have been made during this time, such as the modification of the residential building. The mill area has belonged to the municipality of Triglitz since 1893.

In 1907, the farmers from the surrounding villages put a co-operative dairy into operation. A grist mill was also connected to its steam engine. The old watermill was unable to cope with this competition, so its operation was discontinued during the First World War. In the 1930s, Carl Ganzlin Junior installed a turbine system for private power generation and used it to supply Triglitz with electricity.

At the end of the 1980s, however, the mill began to fall into disrepair. From 1999, the Triglitz watermill was brought back to life from a completely desolate state and rebuilt in line with its listed status by the building contractor couple Heinz and Petra Koebe. The barn was also completely dilapidated. They therefore bought an old barn in neighbouring Jakobsdorf, numbered the beams and rebuilt it on the mill site in 2005.

In 2020, Annette & Klaus took over the watermill and not only installed a heating system and extended the roof truss, but also expanded the mill into a holiday home with six rooms, added many things that make life pleasant and made sure that the watermill had a water wheel again.

Today, the Triglitz watermill shines as a carefully renovated, listed half-timbered house for families, groups of friends or for a team retreat.

The history

We, Annette and Klaus, have created this place in the middle of nature with a lot of love.

As a former manager and now executive coach, Annette knows the requirements and needs for successful workshops and has found the ideal place for them in the watermill.

Klaus finds the watermill a wonderful opportunity to realise practical building projects.
